It has been a prestigious tradition at COEP Technological University since 1928, showcasing more than 165 unique boats yearly. It achieves unprecedented creativity, proficiency, and knowledge throughout numerous events. The Limca Book of Records lists the COEP Boat Club Regatta as the longest-running collegiate festival.
REGATTA means ‘BOAT RACING.’ It is the magnificent outcome of devotion, rigorous practice, intense determination, and discerning minds.
The COEP Regatta is an incredible event that showcases the ability and perseverance of the students who train day and night to provide an unforgettable experience to more than 10,000 spectators with their distinctive boats.
This year’s theme, “Stride towards Pinnacle“, represents our efforts and continuous advancement toward a triumphant 100th edition. For this 95th Regatta edition, we are working extremely hard and giving it our all. Night practices have also been started under the surveillance of our faculties. Telematches and Punt Formation needs immense and ample amount of night practice, to set coordinate among themselves in the mid of waters.
The 95th Regatta, which will take place on March 26, is coming up in a few days. Unlike last year, when there were only four Regatta events, this year there are five. The audience’s attention will be captured by the eagerly anticipated “Mashaal Dance,” returning after three years.
The COEP Regatta has mainly five shows Kayak Ballet, Shell Games, Tele-Matches, Punt Formation, and Mashaal Dance. These events exhibit the unique and rare boats that exist in India.
Kayak Ballet: Kayaks glide over the water with elegance, speed, and agility. They glide through the murky rivers ablaze. It is the relentless toughness of the kayak ballet parade.
Shell Games: Shell games require a lot of core power. The strength of the shell gamers breaches through life and pain.
Telematches: It is a show which requires lots of courage and determination. The calm waters and the roaring fire collectively create a marvelous sight referred to as Tele-Matches.
Punt Formation: It is a show which requires lots of coordination and understanding. The formation of many shapes with the punts(boats) in the dark waters portrays the glory of lights.
Mashaal Dance: It is the only show of the Regatta in which boats are not used and takes place on the river opposite COEP Boat Club. Participants with lightened Mashaal create static and moving shapes based on theme and message to convey.
Besides this, there is also a combined formation of all the shows, which signifies our integrity towards the 95th Regatta known as the “Arrow Formation”.
Arrow Formation: The COEP heritage of the 15 rare boats is indicated by a shaped arrow. The arrow’s tip is one of the three wooden lighters of Asia. This symbolizes ambition and integrity as the purpose of the Regatta.
95th Edition of Regatta will persevere in its aim and soar high above its limits with its hard work.
