Intellectica – A Delegate Discussion based on MUN Framework” was hosted by the Research and Publication Committee of Symbiosis Institute of Digital and Telecom Management (SIDTM) to establish itself as the first academic event of its kind. Unlike the traditional three day Model United Nations (MUN) conference, Intellectica offered an amended event with a technological twist, and a focus on international issues, conducted in a single day. This event was conducted in three interesting phases which gained an impressive 28,457 impressions and had a participants’ response of 147 teams from across various colleges in India.
The thematic journey started on 15th November, 2024 where the first round involved an online trivia quiz hosted on Unstop focusing on participants’ aptitude for analysis and critical thinking. The second round, hosted on the same platform, was a submission round in response to the motion where participants showcased their research skills by developing solutions after exploring various countries’ policies and crafting innovative solutions.
The Finale Round was hosted for the top six teams at the SIDTM Lavale Campus presenting on the motion “Digital Inclusion and the Global Divide in Access to Technology”. The final round was a research based discussion in a Model United Nations (MUN) format where controversies such as digital literacy and data ownership were addressed. Agencies-sponsored teams: India, Brazil, China, USA, combined with Germany and Singapore provided ingenuous yet realistic strategies offering a profoundly sensitive analysis of global trends. Helpful alumni judges/chairpersons contributed to make the event valuable.
The finale featured:
- Moderated Caucus: Delegates analyzed critical concerns, including digital infrastructure gaps and literacy empowerment.
- Unmoderated Caucus: Participants collaborated to negotiate alliances and drafted innovative resolutions.
- Draft Resolution Presentation: Teams defended their solutions and faced rigorous questioning before the Voting Round concluded the event.
The judges/chairpersons praised the participants’ for their commitment to enhance the theme of digitization inclusiveness that has a huge impact on the progress of countries and the world itself. Winners were celebrated for their diplomacy and ingenuity, with interesting prizes and mementos.
\Intellectica 2024 was organised exceptionally well as it was not merely a competition but a chance at personal growth, including innovation, leadership, and a desire to create visions that will shape into meaningful results. Intellectica 2024’s resounding success has set a promising precedent for its future editions.
