HSC results are out, engineering entrance results are out and the students and their parents are gonna do only one thing for next 2-3 months- Run for Admissions! The admission process in Maharashtra is quite hectic and usually consists of 2-3 rounds of iteration.

Why is it so hard? Well for starters, there are close to 50 engineering colleges in Pune. And to make the things even worse, on every college brochure you’ll find this one statement:

So to make the life of the admission seekers a bit easier the Campus Times Pune team did a bit of research and narrowed down the list to 10 best colleges that you should try to get admission for engineering UG course.

This list is not in any particular order or rank and the selection is purely based on honest feedback and surveys. Scroll away and choose your college!

1. College of Engineering Pune उर्फ CoEP

This college is the grandpa of all the engineering colleges in Pune. It is also famous for being the 3rd oldest Engineering Institute in Asia. If you get admission here, then boss! You’re set! Established in 1854, CoEP has truly become the hub of engineering studies and not to mention the long list of their notable alumni. The old architechture is remarkable and is often compared to Hogwarts (Check out some COEP campus images here) to believe.

2. Vishwakarma Institute of Technology उर्फ VIT

This college was established in 1983 and immediately rose to prominence in the education sector in Pune. It is autonomous** since the year 2008-09 and is the only college in Pune to offer Honors and Minors alongside the normal Under Graduate degree courses.

3. Pune Institute of Computer Technology उर्फ PICT

Pune Institute of Computer Technology, (or PICT) is a private engineering college located in Dhankawadi, Pune, India. Established by the Society for Computer Research and Technology in 1983. It offers degrees in Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. Best known for its discipline. 4. Maharashtra Institute of Technology उर्फ MIT

Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune, is an engineering college affiliated to the University of Pune, India. Established in 1983 by Vishwanath D. Karad, it is among the first engineering colleges in the private sector in Maharashtra. It has campuses in Kothrud as well as Alandi.

5. Army Institute of Technology उर्फ AIT

Established in 1994 AIT is one of the best engineering colleges in Maharashtra that functions under the patronage of Army Welfare and Education Society (AWES). Here’s the catch: It offers admission only to the wards of army personnel.

6. Cummins College of Engineering for Women उर्फ Cummins

Cummins College of Engineering for Women was established in 1991 by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha(MKSSS) who are quite renowned in the city for their works in upliftment of women through proper educational initiatives. 7. Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering उर्फ PCCoE

Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune (PCCOE) is an engineering college in PCMC, India. Established in 1984 as Polytechnic giant in PCMC areas turned in for Engineering degree in 1999. 8. Sinhagad College of Engineering, Vadgaon उर्फ SCoE

It is only the second college in Pune University to have started working in two shifts. Apart from the regular 1800, Mechanical and Electronics and Telecommunication Departments have 60 students each in the second shift.

9. Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering उर्फ RSCoE

Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering was established in the year 2001 by Jayawant Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (JSPM) and has grown much beyond its capacity in just 11 years. It offers 5 undergraduate courses in engineering. And psst… psst… this college does not have a wikipedia page.

10. Symbiosis Institute of Technology उर्फ SIT

Symbiosis Institute of Technology, a constituent of Symbiosis International University was established in the year, 2008 and currently offers B. Tech programs in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering.

  1. I wonder if you even check the information you’ve written. The description of SCOE reads ” It is literally located in the mountains of Lonavala. Monsoon season is the best part of the year if you are anywhere around Lonavala.”
    It is located in Vadgaon, Pune. Get your stats right.

  5. I have got 55 marks in cet..this marks are very low bt still can i get a good college? And if yes which?

    • G.S. Moze / Imperial College there are many colleges. Still, refer the last year’s cut off lists.

    • If u got such low marks in CET, then u should ask yourself if u are capable of doing engineering. An engineering degree is not something which u flaunt like a new mobile.
      And it is because of low caliber students like u that we have statistics like only 20% of engineers (out of the lakhs that come out of street corner colleges) in India are employable.

      So please introspect what u are good at and accordingly go for an appropriate course.

  11. Hey there! So let me start my story, got 10 CGPA in class 10th, went to Kota *lol* and fucked up. But talent toh hai hi sahi, tbh I managed to get 104 in 2 damn days of revising stuff I never read before. So here is my rank: 19K.. hoping for a good private college in Pune for civil engineering. 😀 I am hoping for a meaningful reply ASAP bc CAP4 of admissions starts soon and I gotta make my priorities right.
