Radiance 2021, the annual flagship event of PICT ACM Student Chapter – Women in Computing (PASC-W) from PICT, Pune, has come to an end. The response it received was incredible and the event came out to be a grand success with over 2600+ people participating. We can’t expect anything less. Taking place across the span of three days, Radiance was a coalescence of both technical and non-technical events that brought new insight into the minds of the youth and created a unique experience amongst individuals. Moreover, this event was completely organized and managed by the women members of the chapter.
Day 1 (3rd September 2021):
The day started off with a bang with a sports quiz, Sportify. Followed by Sportify, the Restore It contest took place, which was based on programming knowledge, maths, and logical reasoning. Both of these events took place on the Radiance MCQ platform, built from scratch by the chapter members. The third event was Trace the Place that was hosted on the Terraclues platform. It was a head-scratching event that tested the participants’ knowledge of history, geography and much more! The inauguration ceremony was graced by the chief guests Mrs. Sushma Joshi, the lead organizer of AnitaB.org Pune, and Mrs. Sonia Garcha, the director at YouthAid foundation to kick start this one of a kind event with impactful words. It was truly an inspiring beginning! What a wonderful start!
Day 2 (4th September 2021):
The second day was also filled with a wide array of exciting and spine-chilling events. The day kicked off with another round of Sportify to bring out the true sportsmanship within the participants, followed by Restore It to awaken everyone’s coding skills. The star of the show was the eminent speaker program on Computation Complexity delivered by Meena Mahajan, Professor, Theoretical Computer Science Group, HNBI, Chennai. This session left young minds fascinated by the world of computers. Another coding event that took place was Algo-Racers which was conducted on Hackerrank, wherein the participants showed off their coding skills. The day ended with the final round of Sportify where the ambitious individuals rose to the top with a mind-blowing sports debate!!
Day 3 (5th September 2021):
The energy of the final day was not less than a festival, with the final rounds of events such as Algo-Racers, Restore It, and Web and App Development where the participants had to give their best to reach the top amongst their peers and get a chance to win exciting prizes. Next was the finale of the event, that is the closing ceremony. The closing ceremony consisted of eye-opening talks by various industry experts, including Mr. Mayur Jadhav, Co-Founder of DataOrc, Mr. Bryan Bedard, Co-Founder of Highway North Interactive, and Dr. Manasi Patwardhan, senior scientist at Tata Research, which proved to be a guiding light for the audience. The event concluded with a memorable felicitation ceremony, where the winners were felicitated with various exciting prizes.
