The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED-Cell) of PVG’s College of Engineering and Technology & GKPIOM, Pune, has been a beacon of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit for over two decades. Since its establishment in 2003 by visionary Chairman Mr. Sunil Redekar and Director Prof. R.G. Kaduskar, the ED-Cell has continuously strived to nurture creativity and ignite the flames of entrepreneurship in students. Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Manoj Tarambale, Faculty Coordinator Dr. N.G. Jaiswal, and the dynamic leadership of General Secretary Om Nalagune, the organization has grown into a powerhouse of innovation and leadership.
A Legacy of Entrepreneurship and Innovation
With a strong commitment to fostering a thriving startup ecosystem within the college, the ED-Cell has consistently worked towards providing students with the necessary tools and opportunities to turn their ideas into reality. A testament to its dedication is its remarkable performance in the National Entrepreneurship Challenge (NEC) organized by IIT Bombay, where the ED-Cell ranked impressively among 600 participating teams last year.
This year, continuing its tradition of excellence, the ED-Cell is set to host its much-anticipated annual flagship event, ‘Venturers 2024-25’, scheduled to take place on 21st and 22nd February 2025. Organized in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Cell, this event is designed to be an immersive experience filled with opportunities to explore, innovate, and connect with industry experts.
Exciting Lineup of Events
‘Venturers 2024-25’ will feature a diverse range of five sub-events aimed at engaging, educating, and inspiring budding entrepreneurs. Each event is carefully curated to enhance problem-solving skills, foster connections, and provide hands-on experience in various aspects of entrepreneurship.
Build-a-thon: A Challenge of Innovation
A six-hour rapid innovation challenge where student teams will tackle real-world problems, brainstorm solutions, and create working prototypes or Proofs of Concept (PoC). This challenge pushes teams beyond coding and engineering, encouraging them to think holistically about product development and innovation.
Networking Session: Connect with Visionaries
This session is a golden opportunity for startup founders to meet successful entrepreneurs, share experiences, and gain insights into the world of business. It offers a chance to connect with like-minded individuals, potential partners, and investors who can help turn business ideas into reality.
Shark Tank: Bring Your Ideas to Life
A riveting session where aspiring entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas to a panel of expert investors, or ‘sharks.’ This is the perfect platform to receive constructive feedback, refine ideas, and explore funding opportunities.
Cric Auction: A Game of Strategy
Ever dreamt of being part of a high-stakes cricket auction? This exciting event allows participants to flex their cricketing knowledge, strategically build formidable teams, and outwit competitors in a thrilling auction-style competition.
Bootcamp: From Idea to Pitch
In collaboration with COEP’s Bhau Institute of Innovation, this daylong bootcamp is designed to inculcate entrepreneurial values in budding entrepreneurs. Under the mentorship of Dr. Prajakta Joshi, participants will receive guidance on everything from idea selection to pitch preparation, helping them build a solid foundation for their entrepreneurial journey.
